A multimedia electro-folk journey through Portugal

In celebrating Portuguese National Day, the Embassy of Portugal in Windhoek hosts a live concert with OMIRI on Wednesday (14 June) at the National Theatre of Namibia at 19:00.
This Portuguese electro-folk concert takes the audience on a journey through Portugal by way of a unique multimedia show.
OMIRI is one of the most original projects to reinvent Portuguese music. To do so, there is no better way than to bring the players of Portuguese culture to the show itself; with musicians and soundscapes from all over Portugal playing and singing as if they were part of the same universe. Not in flesh and blood but in sound and image, with video field recordings manipulated to serve as a musical base for Vasco Ribeiro Casais’ composition and improvisation.
Above all, OMIRI is a remix; of the culture of the 21st century, mixing one show of forgotten musical practices, making them accessible to contemporary cultures, synchronising forms and music of Portuguese rural tradition with the language of the urban culture.
Admission is free and tickets can be collected free of charge at the National Theatre (12 John Meinert Street) between 08:00 and 13:00, and 14:00 and 17:00).
This event is funded by Camões, the Portuguese Institute for Cooperation and Language with the support of Portuguese entrepreneurs residing in Namibia and Kubata City Hotel, Dunas Safari Tours, Isabel's Table, The Cork & Fork Restaurant and The Hook.
