For its contribution to literature in Namibia, the Doek! Literary Festival received positive recognition in the New York Times.
“The biennial festival, founded in 2022, has become one of the most important literary gatherings in Africa. Over four days in August, young poets performed their works, seasoned writers discussed African crime novels, and literary figures from across the continent and abroad exchanged ideas,” the New York Times reported.
“We are delighted to see our efforts recognised internationally, but we know that such successes begin at home,” Doek! said in a statement.
Entries for the next Doek! literary magazine are open until 31 March 2025.
