The MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) invites aspiring Namibian filmmakers, scriptwriters, producers, and storytellers to apply for the fully funded 2025 academic year. Whether you're a young professional seeking a career change or a newcomer eager to make your mark in the TV and film industry, MTF welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds across 13 African countries, including Namibia.
“MTF fosters entrepreneurial spirit, giving young people the confidence to start their own projects and businesses,” said MultiChoice Namibia managing director Roger Gertze. Namibian alumni have established production houses, pitched concepts at Talents Durban, and produced films under local content projects like Mukorob and Ombura. MTF equips graduates to drive economic growth and cultural enrichment in their communities.
Since 2018, MTF has admitted 60 students annually, nurturing talent and providing growth opportunities across the continent. Eleven Namibians have graduated, with two currently completing their training at the MTF southern campus in Zambia. Through hands-on training and mentorship from industry experts, participants gain practical experience in cinematography, sound design, editing, and more, while learning the business of filmmaking.
At the program's end, top-performing students receive further training, mentorship, and internship opportunities with global partners like the New York Film Academy and Zee World, as well as chances to work on South African productions. Graduates earn accredited qualifications and the opportunity to produce and direct short films showcased on MultiChoice platforms.
“MTF's initiatives reflect its commitment to delivering rich, culturally resonant local content,” Gertze said. By investing in African talent, MultiChoice helps uncover and showcase Africa’s untold stories. Namibian alumni have already achieved success, securing nominations at the 2023 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards and contributing to local content projects like Ombura.
Applications are open until 15 September at https://applications.multichoicetalentfactory.com.
