Namibia Media Holdings (NMH) announced the musical line-up for this year's Tourism Expo, slated for 24 to 26 April at the Windhoek Country Club.
Held under the theme "Beyond Borders", the event features a line-up of Namibia's most beloved artists, including Savannah Collins, Lioness, Carnival of Flames, Africa Djembe Drummers, The Ell’s, Fire Drummer MJ007, Patricia and more.
The eclectic mix of performers is a testament to the expo's commitment to showcasing the rich Namibian culture.
NMH public relations executive Maggy Mbako said that the 2024 expo focuses on the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA), a regional initiative encompassing five member states: Namibia, Angola, Botswana, Zambia and Zimbabwe. "KAZA member states have a lot to share, and with this edition of the expo, we want to sell the frontier as one package," she said.
The focus on KAZA is a reflection of the expo's broader objective - to foster a sense of unity and shared purpose among countries, encouraging collaborative conservation efforts and sustainable tourism.
Notably, while rich in local flavour, this year's musical line-up will not feature international acts - a decision that underscores the expo's dedication to celebrating homegrown talent. "Every year, we try to have a line-up that reflects diverse cultures, and this year is no exception," Mbako explained. This approach not only spotlights Namibian artists but also serves as a vibrant reminder of the country's cultural dynamism and its role in the broader African community.
While the tourism expo maintains a business-centric approach, Mbako said that it is essential to remember its primary objectives, which include facilitating networking opportunities, enabling attendees to explore and purchase holiday packages, and fostering the exchange of ideas and trends within the tourism and business sectors.
