Namibian Championships of the Performing Arts this weekend

The Namibian Championships of the Performing Arts hosts its annual talent show on Saturday in the Windhoek Gymnasium hall.
The event, which starts at 17:30, promises an evening of exceptional talent and underlines the event's mission to promote the country's performing arts.
Lomine Langley, Director of the Namibian Championships of the Performing Arts, said: "We are ready to welcome artists from all over Namibia. This year we have an impressive program: 45 entries in the acting category, 102 in the dance category, 34 in the instruments category, 37 in the modelling category, 13 in the visual arts category, 157 in the singing category and more."
The winners in each category will get the opportunity to represent Namibia on the international stage. "The participants who win gold medals will be selected as Team Namibia and will be allowed to compete in Los Angeles next year," Langley added.
Savannah Collins, musician and founder of Songbird Vocal Studio, shared her excitement. “This will be our third year representing the Erongo region. Our students will compete in the acting, singing, modelling, visual arts and dance categories. Last year we took home five gold medals and we are hoping for the best this year too.”
Collins stressed the importance of the event to her students and the entire Erongo community. “It is a huge achievement for us to be part of this competition. Our students have worked incredibly hard and this platform allows them to shine and grow.”
Tickets are available in advance from 081 122 0562 at N$100 per person and N$50 for children under 10.
