Namibians aiming high at Battle of the Bands

Namibians Esmarie Boshoff and Llewellyn Annandale's music group Skedelkus has been nominated as one of the top 10 in GROOTfm 90.5's Battle of the Bands.
The voting phase is now open and the various music groups must generate as many 'likes' as possible for their video on the South African radio station's Facebook page.
Along with Esmarie and Llewellyn, Skedelkus consists of two South Africans, Jaco Kock (drums) and Johan Kirsten (guitar). Esmarie adds that the group's name is a tribute to Namibia.
During their years as music students at the University of Pretoria, Esmarie and Llewellyn pooled their musical talents to perform as Winds of August at various open mic events and bars. According to Esmarie, this name is also a reference to the winds that blow in the Namibian capital.
"We thought of doing something in Afrikaans - we wanted to make music in our mother tongue," explains Esmarie about the origins of Skedelkus.
If their group makes it to the top 5 of the Battle of the Bands , they will have the opportunity to open for the Afrikaans music group Spoegwolf at the final which takes place at Loftus Versveld in August.
The two agree that they are not afraid of the crowd waiting for Loftus. "It's always nerve-wracking, but it's not scary. It's more like a tingle - like skydiving is only fun, because you're afraid of heights," shares Llewellyn.
