'Temperature Rising': Doccie screened this weekend

Hand-in-hand with Ina-Maria Shikongo’s latest exhibition Echoes of Resistance: The Power of my Voice running at The Project Room, an initiative close to her heart, Temperature Rising, is screened at the same venue on Saturday.
A climate justice advocate, artist and educator, Ina-Maria’s life and work are testaments to the potential of creativity to inspire social and environmental change.
Created by the same Emmy award winning producers of Miners Shot Down, the documentary follows three activists on the forefront of the climate crisis and its effects on Southern Africa. These three activists include Kumi Naidoo, Gabriel Klaasen and the artist of the moment, Ina Maria Shikongo.
Africa, a continent that produces the least amount of greenhouse gas emissions, suffers the most significant impacts of the climate crisis, from extreme weather conditions and natural disasters to a lack of food security.
Temperature Rising is a call to challenge climate leadership and legislation, while enabling community resistance, education, and global mobilisation. The documentary is directed by Jacqueline van Meygaarden, Anita Khanna, and Rehad Desai, and is brought to you by Human Rights Media Trust and Uhuru Productions.
The screening takes place at 18:30.
