The Bellhaus Atelier & Galerie announces the launch of The Stonemen - Flint and Friends in Kaokoland, a book by Ron Swilling that explores the mysterious stone statues in Namibia's Kaokoland. This exclusive event, taking place at 18:00 on 19 November, also includes an exhibition showcasing the striking works of Jacquie Tarr and Jason Nott, bringing the enigmatic story of the "stone men" to life through visual art.
Swilling's book shares the journey of Flint Firestone as he traverses the harsh desert landscape, learning from each stone figure along the way. When Flint reaches a remote gathering of the statues, he joins them to reflect on humanity's role as stewards of nature. This narrative invites readers to reflect on the relationship between humans and the earth's natural wonders.
Jacquie Tarr's charcoal and acrylic paintings capture the spirit of the stone statues against the vast landscapes of Kaokoland, while Jason Nott's photography immerses viewers in the statues' harsh desert home.
Together, Tarr and Nott create a powerful visual and emotional experience that reflects the silent messages of the Stonemen.
