Capricorn breaks ground on new HQ

Capricorn Group celebrated a milestone with the commencement of construction on a new 13-story building in Windhoek's central business district.
Located at the corner of Independence Avenue and Kasino Street, this development reflects the Group’s commitment to positively impacting its employees, customers, and the local business community while contributing to the city’s heritage and renewal.
The new building, expected to be completed by June 2026, will serve as a hub for over 200 employees from Capricorn Group and its subsidiary, Bank Windhoek. Designed with sustainability in mind, it will adhere to world-class Green Building standards, minimising environmental impact and maximising energy efficiency.
The Bank Windhoek main branch, which has operated from the Bank Windhoek Head Office for 42 years, will relocate to this new building, offering customers a modern and enhanced banking experience.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Capricorn Group CEO David Nuyoma emphasised that the project represents more than just a physical structure. “It is an investment in the city's economic and cultural fabric, marking a new chapter in the Group's history.”
He highlighted the project’s role in promoting innovation and positive change while staying true to the Group's heritage and values.
Bank Windhoek board chairman Johan Swanepoel noted the project's significant local economic impact, saying: “The construction phase will create over 250 jobs and support local businesses, bolstering the economy and enhancing the livelihoods of residents, ultimately contributing to a robust and prosperous community.”
