Cash injection for Namibia’s COP pavilion
The Capricorn Group, through the Capricorn Foundation and Bank Windhoek, donated N$500000 to Namibia’s participation in COP29, the United Nations Climate Change Conference, taking place from 11 to 22 November 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan.This marks the third year the group has supported Namibia's Pavilion at COP.
Capricorn Group Head of Sustainability Ruan Bestbier, said that their sponsorship is an investment in creating a platform for Namibians to engage global stakeholders and foster collaboration between public and private sectors for a sustainable and resilient economy.
Bank Windhoek, which launched Southern Africa’s first Green Bond and a Sustainability Bond in Namibia, expressed pride in supporting Namibia's active participation in global climate discussions.
A delegation representing the Capricorn Group will attend COP29, showcasing the group’s commitment to sustainable practices and financing solutions.
The 29th annual COP conference continues the global effort to develop policies addressing climate change since the first UN Climate Agreement in 1992.
