Calling on female entrepreneurs

Media release
The “She Rebuilds the World” project was recently launched in Namibia.
SRW is a women's economic empowerment project, the first-ever development cooperation project of the Government of the Republic of Latvia in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Currently, besides Namibia, the project is also active in Zambia and Zimbabwe. Since it is financed by Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, participation in the programme is free of charge.
SRW consists of three main strategic angles around which specific project activities are aligned.
Firstly, empowering female entrepreneurs via an entrepreneurship education programme, which consists of 3-day intensive boot camps in Windhoek in October followed by 4 months of online entrepreneurship courses via the Riga Business School in Latvia from January to May next year. At the end of the programme, the women are expected to have a business plan to present to investors and/or to banks.
Next, there is sharing experience on specific business environment topics of importance to Namibia for entrepreneurs to succeed. They need a supportive as well as a modern and efficient business environment. This year the project includes a digitalisation programme in Namibia with three workshops, namely on e-business registry, e-signature and a general digitalisation transformation workshop for government officials, business people and NGOs involved in digital transformation.
There will also be a special workshop on civic participation via digital tools. As this is a women empowerment project, there will also a leadership programme for women managers, leaders, politicians and NGOs facilitated by a Harvard trained woman leader and politician.
Finally, the programme connects SRW community members across the North-South and South-South axis. Since the African Continental Free Trade Area is already in an operational stage, SWR believes female entrepreneurs can reap the benefits of creating collaborations and doing business across the borders.
