New NEAB, NaCC boards commissioned

The Minister of Industrialisation and Trade, Hon. Lucia Iipumbu, on Monday officially inaugurated the newly appointed board of directors for the Namibia Estates Agency Board (NEAB) and the Namibia Competition Commission (NaCC).
Leading the NEAB board are Marvel Tjombonde as Chairperson and Abel Sindano as Deputy Chairperson. They are joined by members Simeon Kahona, Dickson Swanepoel, and Liberty Mupopiwa. This board's term will span three years, effective 1 March 2023, and concluding on 31 March 2026.
Similarly, the newly appointed NaCC board consists of Andreas Penda Ithindi as Chairperson and Isabella Tjatjara as Deputy Chairperson. Joining them as board members are Siegfried Josua Neumann, Irene Simeon-Kurtz, and Benjamin Biwa. The NaCC board's tenure is set for three years, starting from 1 August 2023, and concluding on 31 July 2026.
During the same event, Minister Iipumbu introduced the new chief executive of the Namibia Standards Institution (NSI), Dr. Eino Mvula, who takes over this position following the retirement of Chie Wasserfall in December 2022. Notably, Dr. Mvula was instrumental in the establishment of the NSI in 2008.
In her address, Minister Iipumbu welcomed the new boards and emphasised the importance of nurturing strong relationships with stakeholders. She tasked the board members with steering their respective institutions in accordance with relevant legislations, particularly emphasizing compliance with key sections of the Public Enterprise and Governance Act.
Minister Iipumbu outlined specific compliance expectations, such as the signing of Performance Agreements by the Board of Directors with the line Minister, the formulation and submission of integrated strategic business plans, and the timely delivery of annual and financial reports to the line ministry. She expressed confidence that these measures would contribute to effective governance.
