Hunt like the pro you are
Getting to that perfect spot for your shot can be so much more comfortable in a proper hunting vehicle.
Hunting remains widespread in Namibia, attracting enthusiasts with its vast landscapes and diverse wildlife. However, reaching the remote areas where game roam requires more than just passion—it requires a specialized vehicle capable of handling rugged terrain. While vehicles like the Mahindra Pik Up 2.2 SC S4 4x4 can be rented or bought, most hunters have specific preferences for their ideal hunting vehicle.
Nic Kruger, owner of Kruger Trading Enterprises (KTE) Custom Steel Works in Windhoek, has been customising hunting vehicles since 2013. With over a decade of hunting experience, Kruger knows what makes a vehicle practical for serious hunting expeditions.
Kruger says that a good hunting vehicle must be durable, comfortable and capable of covering long distances, since they serve as mobile offices for hunters, guides and trackers, often spending up to 14 hours a day on the road.
“Reliable models like the LandCruiser are popular for their toughness and capacity to carry gear, weapons and game,” he says.
Common modifications include benches, winches for loading game, high-lift jacks, shovels, pangas, and shooting racks. These are particularly useful in southern Namibia, where flat terrain makes it difficult to walk and stalk game.
While trophy hunting at night is banned, Kruger notes that many hunters now appreciate added comforts like USB connections and cup holders.
At KTE’s Prosperita workshop, Kruger and his team of nearly 30 employees provide a wide range of services, from upholstery and paintwork to rock sliders and custom game-viewer accessories.
Whether for a seasoned professional or a newcomer, KTE tailors vehicles to ensure comfort, reliability, and practicality for Namibia’s challenging hunting environments.
