Kidzplay Pre-School spreads joy

Kidzplay Daycare and Pre-School, located in the heart of Osona Village, is more than another educational institution. Founded in 2020 by a visionary principal driven by empathy, Kidzplay has emerged as a source of hope and support for young children's emotional and developmental needs.Kidzplay's ethos centres on creating a nurturing environment for children to play, learn and discover, with loving and qualified staff ensuring every child’s needs are met. The school also provides nutritious breakfast and lunch meals, reflecting its commitment to holistic child development.
But Kidzplay's impact extends beyond the classroom. Moved by the struggles of families in the nearby Five Rand community, an area marked by high unemployment, principal Jessica Jantjies felt a strong desire to make a difference. “I understand the challenges these families face,” she says. “It was clear to me that we could do something to help, even in small ways.”
Outreach
This determination led to the introduction of a monthly outreach programme, where the school provides meals to over 100 children and adults in the Five Rand community. Though financial constraints sometimes limit the initiative, the joy it brings to the community has been immeasurable.
“Seeing the children’s smiles and hearing their gratitude warms my heart. They often say, ‘It is the first time this kind lady is giving us food’, and that motivates us to continue,” Jantjies said.
The initiative is supported by the parents of Kidzplay’s students and the dedicated staff who volunteer their time and resources. Together, they embody the spirit of generosity and kindness, values the school aims to instil in its young learners.
“Giving helps children understand the feelings of others and teaches them to walk in someone else’s shoes,” the principal says. “It fosters a generous mentality and a sense of kindness that will shape them into compassionate adults.”
Life lessons
The school’s efforts are not only about giving back but also about teaching its students important life lessons.
The children at Kidzplay are encouraged to participate in acts of generosity, helping them appreciate the importance of community and empathy.
Reflecting on the success of the initiative, the principal expressed her heartfelt gratitude: “I want to thank the parents of Kidzplay and my incredible staff for always supporting me. Together, we are making a difference, one smile at a time.”
