First drafts presented for Alte Feste's update

The Alte Feste, a historical landmark and the oldest building in the capital, has been in a state of disrepair for a long time: cracks cover in the facade, there is rubbish on the veranda, and the interior is largely empty and neglected. But it won't stay that way forever: Just recently, the US Embassy subsidised the ambitious project to renovate and convert the old fortress with US$250,000 (around N$4.4 million). On Wednesday, representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Education and the Namibia Craft Centre presented their vision of a “cultural centre” that would emerge from and in the building. For the first time, concrete architectural concept designs were presented, showing the Alte Feste in its intended new form. For now, these are just ideas - because there is still a lack of funds to realise the plans.
