14th Careers Expo opens doors to new opportunities
Since its inception in 2009, the Namibia Careers Expo has evolved into one of the country's most anticipated platforms for career development. Bringing together industry leaders, academic institutions and organisations, the expo aims to showcase diverse career paths to learners, parents, and educators. The 14th edition was successfully hosted on 3 and 4 April in the capital, following a welcoming cocktail launch attended by the newly appointed Minister of Education, who highlighted the importance of youth empowerment.
This year’s expo focused on exposing learners to a broad range of career options while equipping them with the tools to make informed decisions.
Supported by Sanlam Namibia and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the event introduced the Sanlam Speakers’ Hall, featuring engaging talks from professionals who shared career insights and advice.
Practical workshops covered essential skills such as CV writing, interview techniques, entrepreneurship and professional development.
Over two days, the expo hosted 42 speakers, 28 exhibitors and 31 participating schools, including several from outside Windhoek. Both local and international institutions participated, widening learners' exposure to regional and global opportunities.
International exhibitors included the University of Pretoria, Tshwane University of Technology, SACAP, SAQA, CUT, DAAD, EDURACUS – Study in Russia, and others. Namibian exhibitors ranged from financial institutions like FNB to academic institutions such as UNAM, IUM and vocational entities like the NTA WorldSkills Namibia.
Vivian Loss Sanmartin, Ambassador of Brazil to Namibia, was among the dignitaries in attendance. She praised the expo as a valuable opportunity for students to explore international study options and make well-informed decisions.
Learners expressed enthusiasm about the event. “So far my experience has been great. I've learned so much about scholarships and other opportunities,” said Dorothy Linyando from Concordia College.
As it continues to expand, the Namibia Careers Expo remains a vital platform for career exploration, fostering curiosity, preparedness, and empowerment. The 2026 edition will extend over a full week, further broadening its impact.
