Beautifying Inge’s Kindergarten

For the seventh year running, Wernhil Shopping Centre shared donations with one of its partners in education, Inge’s Kindergarten, as part of its Wernhil Christmas Wish List Initiative.
Established in 2008, with a current number of 39 learners aged three to six, and a few aged seven to eight, Inge’s Kindergarten was created to fill a need for early childhood development in the Mix Settlement. The total value of the sponsorship to the kindergarten by Wernhil amounted to N$6 000 and included six 5L cans of paint to decorate the exterior of the classrooms along with the waterproofing, fixing of holes as well as installing and replacing window glass of the kindergarten’s two classrooms, done by the Wernhil team.
The donation also included a bright and colourful school sign produced and installed by Image Signs. The costs of the signage were shared equally between Wernhil and Image Signs.
According to Julia Bashir, Head of Centre at Inge’s Kindergarten, “We are thankful to O&L and Wernhil. They have been with us for three years now and we truly appreciate the difference they’ve made in the community at large. The bit they assist with – the signage, paint and children’s parties – all make a huge difference and give motivation to the children and their parents.”
Bashir added that she is excited about the future of the kindergarten, with their hope being to expand and add a garden and kitchen.
From Wernhil centre management, Johan van der Westhuizen said that “what Inge’s Kindergarten has done is an amazing initiative, and this is just the start. If we do not look after the youth, where will we be? It is important to support projects like these, and education will always remain an area of focus close to our hearts at Wernhil. We must look after the foundation of education and that starts here.”
