Desks, chairs for //Kharas schools
Old Mutual Foundation’s initiative expands
The Old Mutual Foundation remains committed to improving educational infrastructure through its Chair and Desk Initiative, recently donating 100 new chairs and desks to Aussenkehr Primary School and restoring 80 more for Kaitsi !Gubeb Combined School in the //Kharas Region.Launched in 2023, this initiative addresses classroom furniture shortages, ensuring learners have a better learning environment. Since its inception, it has supported 12 schools across six regions—Kunene, Zambezi, Omaheke, //Kharas, Oshana, and Erongo.
Ashante Manetti, Marketing and Old Mutual Foundation Retail Manager, highlighted the importance of investing in education: “Every child deserves a comfortable and well-equipped classroom. Through this initiative, we are not just providing furniture—we are creating an environment where young minds can thrive. We are proud to make a difference and look forward to announcing the 2025 beneficiary schools soon.”
Suzie Kadhikwa, Principal of Aussenkehr Primary School, expressed deep gratitude: “On behalf of our learners, staff, parents, and the entire Grape Valley community, we extend our heartfelt thanks for this generous donation. These desks and chairs will not only benefit our learners but also uplift the broader community.”
Similarly, Magrietha van der Brooks, Principal of Kaitsi !Gubeb Combined School, acknowledged the significant impact of Old Mutual’s support on their learning environment.
The Old Mutual Foundation also extended appreciation to the Okakarara Vocational Training Centre for their valuable partnership in making this initiative a success.
