Green concludes intern induction programme
Green Enterprise Solutions (Green) concluded its intern induction programme from 4 to 14 November, welcoming and integrating a new group of skilled and ambitious interns into the organisation.Sixteen interns participated in the programme, with ten going on to become part of the Green team.
Throughout the induction process, the interns were taught Green’s principles, values and best practices.
“They received a crash course in all things Green!” managing director Kehad Snydewel said. “Working in a company is very different from studying at a tertiary institute. To be successful in a company, it is essential to know what the different departments do and how the organisation functions. The department heads at Green all made time for the newcomers, giving the interns first-hand knowledge of how the company operates and what makes it a successful ICT services organisation.”
Through presentations, workshops and team-building exercises, the cohort of interns received a crash course on navigating and being part of a successful team. Green is helping interns turn the students' theoretical and academic foundations into real-world practical skills and applications.
Real-world tools
“They are being given the tools to develop and excel in their positions,” Snydewel said.
As Green is an ICT services company, special importance was placed on domains such as cloud computing, data security measures, software development and customer service delivery. Sales, administration, and presentation skills were also part of their induction.
“We are thrilled by the passion and hard work displayed by our new interns,” Snydewel said, “This initiative equips the interns with practical skills they could not learn at university. As one of the leading Namibian ICT services companies, we must help cultivate the next wave of IT professionals. We are building and fostering Namibia's ICT ecosystem and allowing the young graduates to contribute to Namibia's socio-economic development.”
Denver January, one of the interns, expressed his delight with the induction programme experience describing it as beneficial and rewarding. “The training sessions were challenging, but also enlightening with a steep learning curve that will equip us with skills for our future careers.”
As part of the training programme, skills enhancement sessions were also dedicated to the growth and professional development of the interns. The interns engaged in mentoring meetings with executives to receive career advice. The group also took part in team-building exercises aimed at promoting collaboration and establishing solid work connections.
