Mandela Washington Fellows announced

The US Embassy announced that 16 participants from eight regions in Namibia have been selected to participate in the 2023 Mandela Washington Fellowship (MWF) for Young African Leaders.
Launched in 2014, the Mandela Washington Fellowship is the flagship programme of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) and embodies the US’s commitment to investing in the future of Africa.
YALI was created in 2010 and supports young Africans as they spur economic growth and prosperity, strengthen democratic governance, and enhance peace and security across Africa.
Since 2014, nearly 6 000 young leaders from every country in Sub-Saharan Africa have participated in the Mandela Washington Fellowship. To date, the US Embassy Namibia has sent over 140 young leaders to the United States to participate in the program.
In June, 28 US educational institutions in 20 states and the District of Columbia will host Leadership Institutes for approximately 700 Mandela Washington Fellows. The six-week professional development programme, hosted by college and university campuses across the United States, will support the development of Fellows’ leadership skills through academic study, workshops, mentoring, networking with U.S. leaders, and collaboration with members of the local community.
The Namibian participants are Eunice Shapange and Shange-Ndamona Mungoba (Oshana); Joseph Ndondi (Ohangwena); Laina Ndeshitila (Omusati); Fredrick Shipipa (Kavango East); Beverlyn Ganes (Kunene); Ngundambiriko Katire and Rosalia Joseph (Otjozondjupa); Beatrice Schultz (Erongo); Romanus Kanyanga (Hardap); and Kina Indongo, Nelao Immanuel, Ellen Nanyeni, Ruben Ndatitangi Angala, Fillemon Aupokolo and Mose Ndjarakana (Khomas).
