Maths Olympians rewarded
The Old Mutual Namibia Foundation congratulates the students who emerged as top performers of the 2024 National Mathematics Olympiad (NMO) Grand Finale.This year’s competition, supported by a foundation investment of N$100000, showcased the outstanding mathematical talent of Namibian youth.
The competition held last week, honoured the top performers in various categories, each receiving substantial prizes. The first-place winners, who each received N$5 000, were Roland Ndjamba of St Boniface College (top male student) and Helena Haikali of Canisianum Roman Catholic High School and Grace Haufiku of Okahandja Secondary School, who tied as the top female students.
The second-place awards of N$3 000 each, went to Anton Kanyanga of Matumbo Angelina Ribebe SS (boys) and Justine Peelenga of Gabriel Taapopi SS (girls). The third-place prizes of N$2 000 each were awarded to Sean Chembe of Maurits Devenish Private School (boys) and Magreth Ndara of Maria Mwengere SS (girls).
Mignon du Preez, Group Marketing, Public Affairs, and Sustainability Executive at Old Mutual, expressed her admiration for the winners, stating, “We are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of these talented students. Their dedication and hard work are truly inspiring. At Old Mutual Namibia, we believe in the power of education to shape a brighter future, and it is an honour to support these young mathematicians as they embark on their journey to the Pan-African Mathematics Olympiad. The National Mathematics Olympiad serves as a platform for fostering a deeper interest in mathematics and science, encouraging students to excel and explore careers in these fields.
