More support for EduVision

The Capricorn Foundation strengthened its commitment to bring about positive change in the education landscape with the announcement of its ongoing support to EduVision, a programme that supports 19 marginalised public schools across the country, impacting over 10 000 learners and 350 teachers to address numerous challenges that affect rural schools’ performance and quality of education.
The project team travels 7 000km per month, visiting all 19 schools, ensuring that the system is running effectively, regularly engaging with the teachers and learners, as well as providing training where needed.
The Capricorn Foundation has been supporting the EduVision project since 2020 and has committed N$1.38m to date, of which this year’s commitment is N$540 000. The support of stakeholders, such as the Capricorn Foundation, enables EduVision to lessen academic imbalances and bridge the gap between urban and remote schools in Namibia and provide equal opportunities for rural schools.
“Education is one of the Capricorn Foundation’s primary focus areas and partnering with EduVision in supporting remote and marginalised schools is pivotal to help improve the quality of education and give the Namibian child in rural Namibia the same access to learning opportunities as their peers in urban Namibia,” said Marlize Horn, Executive Officer of the Capricorn Foundation.
“We are proud of our partnership with EduVision in providing access to rural school learners and teachers to quality education. We truly believe that investing in education pays the best interest.”
The EduVision Project provides rural and marginalised schools with access to an “extended classroom”, focusing on providing learners with additional lessons through inclusive digital learning and interactive platforms, such as smartboards, recorded lessons, and live online classes with experienced teachers to empower them and help with digital transformation.
“The impact of their sponsorship has been profound,” said EduVision’s Frikkie Louw. Thanks to their financial support, we are able to equip these remote schools with the necessary infrastructure, including, internet connectivity, and learning resources. The Capricorn Foundation’s contribution has transformed classrooms into vibrant hubs of learning, where students can now explore new horizons and acquire knowledge that will shape their future.
“Moreover, their sponsorship has allowed us to train dedicated teachers who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of the students. Through their guidance, students are receiving a high-quality education that empowers them to pursue their dreams and unlock their full potential. The Foundation’s support has not only improved academic outcomes but has also instilled a sense of hope and confidence in these students, inspiring them to aspire to a brighter future,” Louw concluded.
