OAHF, Welwitchia sign MoU
Osaat Africa Health Foundation (OAHF) and Welwitchia University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Dr Esperance Luvindao Healthcare Scholarship Award, a transformative initiative aimed at supporting academically deserving students from disadvantaged backgrounds who aspire to pursue careers in healthcare. The partnership, signed between OAHF chairperson Dr Esperance Luvindao and Welwitchia University, will provide financial assistance and mentorship to students entering fields such as nursing, sonography and other healthcare-related disciplines. Under the agreement, OAHF will oversee the selection and mentorship of scholarship recipients, ensuring they meet both the scholarship criteria and the university's admission standards.
Welwitchia University, in turn, will ensure that all scholarship recipients will be enrolled at their university as well as offer financial concessions to recipients and provide academic support to ensure their success.
Speaking on the partnership. Prof Marius Hedimbi, acting vice-chancellor of Welwitchia University, expressed admiration for the initiative. "I commend Dr Esperance on her humanitarian efforts. It is inspirational seeing a young professional so passionate about uplifting those less fortunate than themselves. It is an honour to embark on this partnership with OAHF."
Luvindao emphasised the significance of aligning with the right institution. "We really wanted to partner with an institution that shares the same vision and values as us, and we are happy we found that in Welwitchia. We don't just want to pay for students' tuition fees - we want to raise future healthcare leaders."
