New members of the Baker's Bay clan
The Brown Hyena Research Project was delighted to recently introduce two new members of the Baker's Bay clan, Louie and Dewey."These two pups were first spotted by our camera traps in November last year and were estimated to be between 7 and 8 months old. This is the age when the cubs start to explore the area around their den."
Now the research project has spotted one of the two brown hyenas, Dewey, on the last excursion in Baker's Bay.
"He seemed a little nervous around the seals and was eating some old bones, including a spine, which he took to eat in a safer place. The seals will start giving birth in a few weeks, so fresh food will be abundant for the hyenas." Photo: Brown Hyena Research Project
