Get your German on

Language competition on Saturday
Learners from all over the country again compete in the National German as a Foreign Language Competition at the Goethe-Institut on Saturday (9 April).
The competition has been held since 1987.
Besides the oral exams, fun and motivation for German are just as important. In light of this, the organisers are excited to welcome 22 German learners to the Goethe-Institut to a colourful and entertaining program with entertainers Lize Ehlers and EES, who are hosted by Till and Sybille from Hitradio.
In addition, there is an exciting Agent - Escape game.
So that family, friends and classmates can join in the fun, there will be a live stream on the Facebook pages of Goethe Institut Namibia, Hitradio and Lize Ehlers.
The competition is aimed at children and young people who have chosen German as a foreign language as a school subject, and it is aimed at promoting the learning and strengthening of the German language in Namibia.
German is spoken by about 120 million people worldwide and mastering German can be an advantage in a country like Namibia.
To give the five best German learners additional insight into German culture, the main prize is a laptop and a language course. Like last year, attractive non-cash prizes will be handed out instead of airline tickets.
The prizes in kind and hosting the event would not be possible without the support of sponsors, namely the German Embassy Windhoek, the German-Namibian Society (DNG), the Pedagogical Exchange Service (PAD), the Working and Support Association of German School Associations in Namibia (AGDS) and Namibia Breweries.
The competition takes place from 09:30 to 11:30, and again from 13:45-15.15.
