On Saturday the Old Wheelers’ Club in Windhoek held its Classic Car Auction. The selection of old vehicles was plentiful and participation in the auction was lively - those interested could also bid online. One of the requirements is that the seller remains unknown and thus the car is offered anonymously. According to club chairman Rainer Rusch, 66 vehicles were offered and the selection that ranged from the typical Old Wheeler to the relatively new VW Combi, from the VW Beetle to the chunky Ford F250 all-wheel drive or a Toyota Land Cruiser with three-gear shifts. There was no shortage of Mercedes-Benz's, and there was even a classic Rolls Royce on offer. Ultimately, the most expensive vehicle, a restored 1972 Toyota Land Cruiser, sold for N$420 000.
