Tamara !Gaoses stands as a trailblazer in Namibian sports, proudly holding the title of the country’s first female 3x3 basketball referee.
With over 13 years of experience, her journey from player to referee has been transformative, driven by an unwavering passion for basketball.
She garnered significant recognition as a referee in 2018 at the Young Lions Cup in Botswana, a milestone that cemented her status in the Namibian basketball community as a qualified match official.
!Gaoses' ultimate aspiration is to officiate at the Olympics and to participate in more international games, reflecting her dedication to reaching the pinnacle of her profession.
In her role as the director of basketball officials for the Namibian Basketball Federation, Gaoses shared invaluable insights into her career.
"The love of the game and my passion for achieving my goals have been my driving forces," she said.

Navigating her path has been challenging, especially in a male-dominated industry.
However, her passion has kept her alive and motivated. Today, basketball in Namibia is progressing in the right direction, despite the hurdles of the past. For anyone interested in this field, it's crucial to stay focused and determined, as nothing is impossible when your passion fuels you.
!Gaoses advised new professionals to cultivate dedication, commitment and persistence, as these are essential elements for success in sports and fitness.

Additionally, she highlighted the importance of seeking sponsorship opportunities and mentoring the younger generation.
"By mentoring others, you not only contribute to the growth of the sport but also reinforce your own skills and knowledge," !Gaoses said.
