At 23 years old, Christof Lange brings experience and reliability to his housesitter role.
He embarked on his housesitting journey at the age of 18, accumulating five years of hands-on experience.
Lange’s motivation for housesitting is straightforward: “It's easy money". His simple approach highlights his understanding of the job's simplicity and the opportunity it provides to earn while helping homeowners maintain their properties.
Over the years, Lange has completed around 20 housesitting assignments. The experience build-up means he is well-acquainted with the responsibilities and nuances of the role.
His client base primarily consists of people he knows or referrals through word-of-mouth. This network-based approach ensures a level of trust and reliability, as his reputation is built on personal recommendations and successful past assignments.
Lange said he genuinely enjoys housesitting, although he acknowledges that caring for animals can sometimes be challenging for him, but it does not deter him.
His overall positive attitude towards the work reflects a genuine interest in providing excellent service.
“My advice for young individuals is that housesitting is a worthwhile pursuit and it can also be a peaceful job if done correctly.”
He added: ”It can teach a young person a sense of independence".
He pointed out that it does not matter much where you sleep, and even if the pay isn’t high, the minimal effort required makes it a great deal. This perspective helps to understand the job’s benefits, especially for young adults seeking flexible and easy ways to earn money.
Advising aspiring housesitters, Lange emphasised the importance of maintaining a good reputation. “Avoid developing a bad reputation, as it can lead to a lack of future opportunities.”
He explained that not keeping the house clean and not respecting security measures can create a negative reputation.
His key tips for success include respecting the client's home and ensuring the well-being of any animals and plants in their absence.
