Namibia popular destination for families

Namibia has been named the fourth best country in Africa to visit with children, followed by neighbouring South Africa which is in third place.
This is according to a survey by the tour operator Go2Africa. Voted the most child-friendly country in Africa and the world, Seychelles boasts the most family-friendly hotels, tourist attractions and restaurants making it the preferred travel destination for parents. Morocco is second in Africa and Madagascar is in fifth place.
According to Go2Africa, families have much more to think about and consider when choosing a holiday destination. "They need to make sure the area offers a good mix of family-friendly hotels, lots of activities to keep their children busy, as well as a variety of restaurants that cater for picky eaters."
To help families find the perfect location for their next adventure, Go2Africa analysed nearly 4 000 hotels, attractions and restaurants from around the world to find the perfect place to visit.
Part of the study included a tour operator compiling a detailed list of all the countries around the world. “We then collected data from Tripadvisor on the number of family-friendly and four- to five-star hotels, attractions and restaurants. By calculating the percentage of family-friendly places relative to the total number of establishments, we determined the best destinations to visit with children.”
According to Go2Africa, Africa has some of the most incredible environments and activities to discover with children. "From extensive national parks where children come into contact with exotic wildlife for the first time, to pristine beaches that are unlike any other beach in the world, there is something for everyone."
Go2Africa says Namibia is an excellent destination for families looking for adventure and unique experiences.
"Families can experience an exciting Namibian safari in the Etosha National Park, home to rare wildlife such as elephants, lions and giraffes, or they can discover the abundant wetlands of the Zambezi region."
Many places to stay in Namibia also offer child-friendly programs, swimming pools, activities as well as interactive conservation initiatives. "The country is safe and most regions are malaria-free, which makes it ideal for a family to travel here."
According to the tourist statistics report for 2023, 6.4% of tourists in Namibia were under 19 years old. - [email protected]
