Sounds of caring for a Namibian child
Artists take hands
Musicians joined forces to raise funds for the African Child Development Trust.
T hree well-known artists – South Africa’s Adam Tas together with Namibia’s Vaughn Ahrens and Riaan Smit – will be performing in Windhoek on 20 and 21 May in support of the African Child Development Trust (ACDT).The ACDT was entrusted with the rollout of educational support materials nationally during the Covid-19 lockdown. This initiative led to the printing and distribution of 12 million booklets countrywide between 2020 and 2021.
The project was made possible through Namibia Media Holdings by the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture, UNICEF, the Capricorn Foundation, and the Namibia Community Trust, along with technical support from a dedicated team of teachers from various schools in Windhoek.
While this project began as an emergency response to Covid-19, it will now continue assisting learners and teachers parallel with face-to-face classes for the next three years.
The ACDT is a non-profit organisation, developed to raise funds for this initiative.
The ACDT music festival takes place at Windhoek High School’s Vegkop stadium in Windhoek on 20 and 21 May 2022. Tickets are available online via eticket.my.na at N$200 (in advance) and N$250 at the gates.
Gates open at 16:00 on both days and the show starts at 19:00. All proceeds will be directed to the ACDT.
