New fleet, equipment for NamWater
NamWater procured 26 new vehicles and critical infrastructure support equipment, representing a significant investment in operational efficiency, customer service and national service delivery.This acquisition, valued at N$12.6 million, forms part of NamWater’s ongoing commitment to improve mobility, strengthen responsiveness and enhance service quality across all corners of Namibia.
In a media statement, NamWater said the contract for the fleet was awarded on 11 December 2024, and all vehicles have now been received and are ready for deployment.
The new vehicle fleet includes four sedan vehicles; three double-cab bakkies with canopies (two 4x4s and one 2x4), and 19 × single cab bakkies with rails (twelve 4x4s and seven 2x4s).
These vehicles will enable NamWater teams to extend their reach, ensure prompt response to operational needs, and improve interaction with stakeholders and customers across even the most remote areas of the country.
In addition to the vehicle fleet, NamWater has also invested in vital construction and maintenance equipment to support its infrastructure development and water supply operations. This includes a self-loading concrete mixer (CARMIX 3.5TT) valued at N$4.3 million, which will enhance the corporation’s construction capacity and streamline internal project delivery; as well as three mobile generator sets valued at N$2.6 million, to be stationed in Okahandja, Rundu and Oshakati, ensuring uninterrupted water supply during power outages and enhancing system reliability.
