Cancer cover: Apply for assistance now

The Cancer Association of Namibia (CAN) has invited vulnerable Namibian cancer patients in need of financial assistance to continue their treatment and/or report for treatment or follow-up to treatment, to contact their Patient Navigators at our CAN Community Care Centre and submit their applications for the CAN Patient Financial Assistance Programme.
The due date for Quarter Three support applications is 15 July 2023. Ad-hoc applications will also be accepted if patients cannot meet this deadline.
Patients are asked to note that the CAN Patient Financial Assistance Programme does not make provisions to pay for medical procedures (i.e., a private/state patient without insurance/medical aid that demands treatment in a private hospital).
The Ministry of Health and Social Services provides a comprehensive oncology treatment programme for state patients at the Dr AB May Cancer Care Centre at Windhoek Central Hospital. Stakeholders all take hands with the state medical teams to support the centre, programme and especially patients as best they can.
CAN has noted with concern that there are some patients and/or family members and/or friends who circulate negative messages about CAN for not meeting their personal demands in this regard – it is unfortunately not within our organisation’s means to pay for private medical treatment of state patients.
