Kennel cough outbreak can be treated
Veterinarians say several cases of kennel cough have been reported in Windhoek of late.This is a contagious bacterial infection in a dog's airway. While it's a less serious disease that spreads easily among dogs that go for regular walks, it can be terrifying for dog owners because it causes dogs to cough heavily and even sounds like they're choking or suffocating.
Windhoek Veterinary Clinic explained in a newsletter that the disease has several causes and can be compared to people who catch a cold.
Most dogs recover without extensive treatment, while healthy dogs can be vaccinated against it. A yard can also be disinfected to prevent the disease. – [email protected]
