The Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr. Kalumbi Shangula, officially opened the APGAR maternity hospital in Windhoek yesterday. During his speech, Shangula praised the hospital for its efforts to improve existing healthcare facilities. He highlighted Namibia's progress in reducing maternal mortality, but acknowledged that there is still work to be done. The country's maternal mortality rates have fallen to around 215 per 100 000 live births. The co-director Nancy Shiweda stood next to Shangula during the inauguration of the maternity hospital.
