N$4m worth of equipment for ortho department

Support Ulm e.V., a non-profit organisation based in Ulm, Germany, under the management and guidance of Prof. Dr. Heinz Maier together with the Haussler Group in Ulm, donated medical equipment worth N$4 million to the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS).
This specific consignment was put together mostly to the benefit of the Department of Orthopaedics at Katutura Intermediate State Hospital.
Support Ulm e.V. was established by a group of medical doctors who made it their aim to support medical projects throughout the world, they support various projects using financial, humanitarian as well as donations.
The donation was handed over by Sion Amalovu, the Logistics Manager of Ohorongo Cement, to the Deputy Minister of Health Dr Esther Muinjangue on Tuesday.
Amalovu highlighted that the donation was specifically aimed at improving medical services most especially within the Department of Orthopaedic within the MoHSS and further on to every other health sector within Namibia
“I am happy to confirm that, since the establishment of the partnership between Support e.V, the MoHSS and Ohorongo Cement in 2009, we have spent over N$82.9 million supporting several social projects. Of the N$82.9 million, N$69.5 million has been tallied to medical supplies and equipment, including today’s donation,” Amalovu said.
Amalovu also expressed gratitude towards Blaauw’s Transport, a valuable CSI partner of Ohorongo Cement, for donating transport and logistical services of the medical equipment from the Walvis Bay port to Windhoek.
He also thanked Genmed Enterprise Pty Ltd for their technical assistance with the donated equipment.
Service delivery
In her acceptance remark, Muinjangue said the donation would go a long way to improve service delivery to patients and clients who seek medical care in health facilities across the country, she highlighted the importance of such donations in helping people in need around the world cannot be overstated. “When health facilities receive such donations, they can redirect their limited resources to other areas of need such as hiring more healthcare workers, improving infrastructure, or investing in training and capacity building, thereby improving the overall quality of healthcare service delivery.”
Muinjangue commended the relationship between the MoHSS and Ohorongo Cement, which extends to the charity organisation Support Ulm e.V. for the longstanding partnership that has expanded and deepened over the years.
The event ended in the words of Kambiz Shabankareh saying: “The joy of giving is indeed a pleasure, especially when you see the faces of the recipient light up with gratitude”.
