NamBTS paints towns red

Call for donations on Red Saturday
Staff reporter
The Blood Transfusion Service of Namibia (NamBTS) aims to paint the towns of Windhoek, Rehoboth, Swakopmund and Ongwediva red on Red Saturday (12 April) in a bid to fill more than 200 bags of donated blood to mitigate blood shortages in the country.
In light of this, the service calls on all existing and new donors to show up in numbers to achieve this goal which will ensure sufficient blood reserves during Easter and guarantee our commitment to saving lives.
Times and venues
Windhoek: 08:00 – 14:00 at the NamBTS head office in Tal Street

Swakopmund: 09:00 – 14:30 at Platz am Meer

According to NamBTS, Red Saturday gives the service an opportunity to engage with donors to preserve their culture of care and humanity.

- Be older than 16 and younger than 65
- Weigh more than 50 kilograms

#DareToCare
The event forms part of NamBTS ongoing campaign - #DareToCare – which reiterates the power, people have to save lives, by donating blood and we will provide donors with the usual treats including a complimentary gift.
“With the regular donors in these towns, we are looking forward to surpassing our expectations for donations and we have faith that Namibians will come out and show their love, passion and hearts during our Red Saturday,” says Zita Tobin, Manager: Marketing and Donor Relations at NamBTS.
“With the upcoming Easter holidays, this campaign seeks to ensure sufficient blood supplies for the country and to foster the culture of Namibians showing up for each other in times of need.”
