Rehoboth laboratory officially opened
Cause for celebration
On her 33rd birthday, a resident of Rehoboth made a lifelong dream come true when she became the second woman in the country to open her own laboratory.Carmen Britz not only celebrated her birthday on Saturday, 18 June 2022, she also opened the CJC Medical Lab to the community at the Oanob Private Hospital in the town.
Carmen is described as a pioneer in the town's community, and the seeds she sewed on Saturday will fully bloom beyond the borders of only the Rehoboth.
Her humility was echoed in a moving speech at the opening of the laboratory- an event she would have loved her father, Koeler Britz, to have witnessed. As the apple of her father’s eye, she had hoped he would share the special occasion with her, but sadly he passed away last year.
Dr Brisby Matunhure, the managing director of Oanob Private Hospital, was also in attendance at the opening.
“I sat down one morning early this year and thought about how I could set up a laboratory at the hospital. Then I witnessed how God still performs miracles because guess who walks into my office? A radiant Carmen Britz, who exclaimed with much excitement that she was ready to open a laboratory of her own. All I could say was thank you Lord for answering my prayers. As you know by now, the rest is history. I believe we will work well together and even reach out to those beyond the borders of Rehoboth,” he said.
Amanda Groenewaldt, on behalf of the Rehoboth Town Council, said at the opening that it was a historic day for the town and its residents. “This should also serve as an incentive for our youth. Indeed, this is a remarkable achievement that you, Carmen, have achieved. May God bless you in whatever you undertake. You are a superstar and deserve recognition. You have reached a milestone and you are indeed a good example to other young people. ”
Speaking to this publication from Lüderitz, Rehoboth mayor Toes Junius said that in these difficult times in which we live while witnessing how the youth is often discouraged, it is important to identify role models. “As Carmen proved by opening her own laboratory, she is truly making history. I wish her all the best. I am confident that she will reap the rewards for her outstanding contributions to the wider community of Rehoboth, through an essential service to our town that is now provided by our own people.”
Carmen and her mother Anita Britz cut the ribbon.
