Auas Road construction moving ahead

The upgrade of Auas Road to a dual carriageway has begun and is set to continue until at least August next year.
Phase 1 stretches from Sean McBride Street up to Aviation Road, which the City of Windhoek says, will lead to construction works and the partial/phased closure of the affected construction areas, namely the western side of the road.
This phase affects the inbound lanes between Arebbusch and Namcor (at Aviation Road) along Auas Road.
Additional areas where traffic will be affected include Golf Street, Sean McBride Street, Netball Street, Cricket Street, Stadion Street and Aviation Road.
The City said there will be construction vehicles entering and exiting Auas Road on the western side, with flagmen at the relevant entrance and exit points. In light of this, the speed limit has been reduced to 30km per hour along the road section and no pedestrians should walk along the western side of the road.
Road should thus be cautious whilst using these roads during the continued upgrade and to adhere to the traffic signage, speed restrictions and barricading around the construction areas.
