Although there may not be visible machinery and workers on site, extensive road works are underway to convert Eneas Peter Nanyemba Road - formerly Monte Christo Street - into a dual carriageway.
According to the City of Windhoek (CoW), which manages this project in collaboration with the Road Authority (RA), a section of the road is expected to be opened to road users this week.
However, the southern section is not expected to be completed until 9 August. Meanwhile, motorists can continue to use the Brakwater and Katutura interchange on the B1 highway and internal roads to reach their destinations.
"In the meantime, we ask that road users be patient while this necessary work is completed. We understand the inconvenience and we are doing our best to complete this work as quickly and efficiently as possible," CoW's spokesperson, Lydia Amutenya said.
