Namibia captured in time

A Rolex Submariner 116610 watch was recently redesigned to incorporate something special that will remind you of Namibia.
The watch dial, which Artisans de Genève manufactures to order, is a piece of the Gibeon meteorite which is 0.3 mm thick.
The watch has a moon phase indicator that uses nacre (mother of pearl) for the moon and a form of quartzite (aventurine) for the sky.
Paulo Coelho, a Namibian who deals in luxury watches, says that the nacre and quartzite as well as the white gold used for the watch come from Namibia.
"It's simply a beautiful watch and I was so impressed," he says.
Although the Heart of Namibia is a bespoke watch, Coelho says the owner of the original watch agreed that Artisans de Genève could reproduce a Rolex Submariner 116610 for him.
"People need to understand that watches are an investment - their value increases over time. Watches don't lose value like a vehicle that loses 10% or 20% as soon as you drive it off the showroom floor," he says.
Coelho says his fascination with watches began in his childhood. "My mother has a small guest house in Pionierspark and we hosted many Angolan guests and they always wore big, fancy watches," he says.
Later, his mother bought him a Casio G-Shock watch. He still owns this watch and has since added several other watches to his collection that remind him of important milestones and events in his life.
Coelho also inherited another watch that his grandfather bought in 1942. This Rolex Submariner 116600 was passed down to his father and later to him. – [email protected]
