Trendy interior colours for 2025

Whether you are refreshing your living space or preparing your home for the market, choosing the right paint colours can significantly increase your home’s saleability.
According to Adrian Goslett, Regional Director and CEO of RE/MAX of Southern Africa, a fresh coat of paint in modern, appealing colours can make a home feel well-maintained and move-in ready, which is especially attractive to potential buyers.
“If you’re planning to sell your home in 2025, choosing the right paint colours can significantly influence buyers’ first impressions. Neutral tones help buyers envision their furnishings in the space, while accent walls in a trendy colour can create a memorable focal point that can help your home stand apart from similar homes in the area,” he adds.
For those who want to pick a trendy colour for their accent walls, RE/MAX of Southern Africa shares some suggestions for what buyers might be searching for in the year ahead...
Warm earth tones: Shades like terracotta, clay, and sand are making a comeback, bringing a grounded and organic feel to interiors. These colours evoke warmth and a sense of stability, perfect for creating inviting living spaces. The softer shades can be used as a warmer alternative to white or grey neutral walls.
Soft greens: Inspired by nature, shades like sage, olive, and eucalyptus are becoming popular for their calming effect. Green connects us to the outdoors – which is something many homes (apartments and townhouses) lack these days. Bringing the outdoors in through colour can be a great idea for homes without their own garden space.
Vibrant accents: While neutrals dominate, bold colours like mustard yellow, cobalt blue, and coral are being used as accent walls or in décor pieces to add personality and energy to a space. The younger, Gen Z buyers and tenants tend to have a preference for colour over neutrals, so these bright shades might be perfect if this is the audience you are trying to attract.
“Before you put a new coat of paint on the walls, consult with a trusted real estate agent who understands your local market. They can provide insights into the trending colours and design preferences in your area, ensuring your home stands out to potential buyers,” says Goslett.
