CoW clarifies parking regulations

The City of Windhoek (CoW) has clarified the method of payment when using public parking spaces in response to concerns raised by motorists.
This happened after a driver received a bill in the absence of a parking attendant and the clock had kept running for a day. The bill showed an accrued parking fee of N$50 and consequently caused anger.
According to the municipality, an invoice will be issued for the respective parking period if there is no "marshall" on site. "When the motorist returns, a marshal should collect the payment and issue a receipt. In the event of a missing parking attendant, motorists are advised to contact the number indicated on the parking signs or on the ticket to stop the parking meter. It is advisable to keep the parking tickets and note the relevant details," a city spokesperson said.
As parking issues continue, the City stressed the importance of understanding these procedures to avoid inconvenience. Residents and visitors are urged to take note of the city's latest developments so that Windhoek's CBD can comply with regulations.
