The Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) in collaboration with the European Union (EU) recently unveiled a stunning new mural on its campus in Windhoek.
“The artwork is not only visually captivating, but also symbolises the shared mission of NUST and the EU to champion sustainability, green industrialisation and Namibia’s energy transition,” NUST stated.
“As Namibia continues to pursue its energy transition goals, this mural serves as a creative expression of the hopes and ambitions that drive these efforts,” NUST Acting Vice-Chancellor Miriam Dikuua, said.
EU Ambassador to Namibia Ana Beatriz Martins added that the mural is “more than just a piece of art” and is a powerful symbol of the shared commitment between Namibia and the EU. “We hope that this painting will inspire, even if only fleetingly, to believe that together we can achieve the goals Namibia has set for itself.”
Created by local artists, the mural illustrates three key pillars that are essential to Namibia’s green future: skills development, job creation and a shared vision for a sustainable future.
This unveiling also celebrated over 22 years of collaboration between NUST and the EU, a partnership that has resulted in significant advances in research, infrastructure and programs focused on building a greener, more sustainable future for Namibia.
