MTC handed over a specialist device to the ophthalmological department of the Windhoek Central Hospital yesterday, enabling this department to treat more patients than before.
According to the clinic, the donation comes at the perfect time, since the department is fully booked and there are still a number of patients on the waiting list.
The value of the device is around N$750 000.
Executive director of the health ministry, Ben Nangombe, who was present at the handover, thanked MTC for the equipment as well as the clinic staff. He said that despite the high number of patients at the clinic, staff focus on the best interests of their patients.
MTC’s Tim Ekandjo said that the company is proud to work with the ministry, and especially with the clinic's ophthalmological department. “We are impressed by the excellent work carried out by staff that enable patients to see well again. MTC would also like to support the clinic with cutting-edge technology in the future,” Ekandjo added.
At the handover, it was announced that the clinic is pursuing a decentralisation policy in a bid to provide care for patients in the regions who only have limited options for ophthalmological care.
