Be safe with Tyre Smart

STAFF REPORTER
Tyres are a serious business, and to ensure your safety, save on expenses, and get the very best out of the wheels that carry you from place to place, you better be smart about it. Enter Tyre Smart, the new fitment, repair, wheel alignment, and all things tyre-related one-stop shop that has opened in Windhoek’s southern industrial area since 1 March. Their owner and founder, Leon Smit, along with his team of experts, will assist you.
With their state-of-the-art machinery, Tyre Smart offers everything you will need, all under one roof. They might start by removing your tyres from the vehicle and subjecting them to a comprehensive examination. Smit explains that Tyre Smart’s standard inspections include checking the sidewalls of the tyre for any bulges or rim damage, both on the outside and inside, inspecting for nails or any other puncture holes, and measuring the treads to ensure they are not worn below the legally required 3mm length. Pressure checks are also standard, setting front tyres to 2.5 PSI and rear tyres to 1.8 PSI as required for the specific vehicle, for example.
State-of-the-art three-dimensional machinery is employed to ensure that wheel alignment is done to perfection and wheel balancing is optimised. Stick-on weights are used to balance each tyre for maximum performance and longevity.
In fact, at Tyre Smart, a complimentary survey of your existing tyres is conducted, exemplifying how Tyre Smart clients benefit from Smits' 21 years of experience in the tyre industry.
Tyre Smart aims to expand to Otjiwarongo in August, to Oshakati later, and eventually to the entire country, he said.
