Full steam ahead!

The Windhoek Karneval (WIKA) will be keeping Windhoekers and guests alike busy for the next week as it celebrates an incredible milestone – 70 years of fun!
This year's theme translates to 'Applause, applause, full steam ahead', and will bring guests pulsating performances by both local and international acts. Joining the event are renowned performers such as the HSO Band from Eschweiler, 'Party-Schlager' star Peter Wackel and the much-anticipated Namibian debut of 'Die Höhner' from Cologne, Germany.
Following the Royal Ball last Thursday, the 'Prunksitzung' on Friday, the street procession and beer fest on Saturday, and the children’s carnival on Sunday, this week is set to deliver the Herrenabend (gents evening), Damenabend (ladies evening) and the Maskenball (masked ball) – or HeDaMa – on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the first international evening will take place on Thursday, the second international evening on Friday, and Juka (youth carnival) next Saturday, with performances by the Jaegermeister Brass Cartel, local comedian Ujandja Zatjirua, saxophonist Suzy Eises, Darren 'Whackhead' Simpson, The Garde Girls, and Claudine Nelson and the Playful Pulse. Don’t miss out!
