In a recent interview with My.Na Properties, Ndina Embanga, a rising star in the realm of real estate, shared her thoughts on her journey, challenges, and insights into the dynamic Namibian property market. As a real estate agent at DNC Properties, Embanga's perspective provides valuable insights into the industry's inner workings.
Embanga's decision to venture into real estate was underpinned by her deep-seated desire to facilitate connections between buyers and sellers.
"I became a real estate agent because I want to help buyers find the right properties, and I also have a desire to help the seller sell their property."
Recognising the contemporary tools essential for success in the field, Embanga emphasised: "The fundamental skills are customer service skills and good social media management skills."
Her acknowledgment of the pivotal role of customer service, coupled with adept social media management, underscores the evolving nature of property transactions in the digital age.

Tricky market
Embanga shed light on the formidable challenges facing the industry, particularly the unrelenting increase in the repo rate. These incremental rises have contributed to inflated property prices, straining the purchasing power of prospective buyers. Notably, this scenario is most pronounced in large urban areas like Windhoek, where property costs are elevated.
"The constant increases result in it becoming more and more difficult for individuals to afford buying houses, thus straining the market," Embanga said.
The impact of these economic shifts has been the preference for rentals over property purchases, rendering rental properties scarce.
Discussing the daily routine of a real estate agent, Embanga outlined the multifaceted nature of the role. "Well, I start off with advertising and marketing work for my business, as well as canvassing. Depending on my schedule, I may have meetings with my clients and after that get to work looking for their desired property," she explained.

Prospective job
Embanga's insights into building a client base underscore the significance of online resources.
"I utilise my online resources, such as social media and website pages designed for property sales and agents."
Aspiring real estate agents can glean valuable advice from Embanga's journey.
She explained: "If you want to become a real estate agent, you just need to sign up for the board exams. You then write your exams, get your certificate, and then you too can become one."
