Auas Motors has donated a brand-new, blue Suzuki S-Presso to Windhoek High School (WHS). This vehicle will be auctioned off to the highest bidder, with the proceeds directed towards the refurbishment and maintenance of the school's netball courts, which require a minimum of N$160 000 each for repairs.
The official handover ceremony took place on 23 May at Vegkop Stadium, and was attended by representatives from Auas Motors and WHS staff members. This marks yet another significant contribution from Auas Motors, who have been the title sponsor for the school's first netball team for several years.
Juanita Birch, the public relations and marketing manager at WHS, expressed profound gratitude: "This event is not only an opportunity to express our gratitude to our sponsor, Auas Motors, but also to our Heavenly Father for His abundant blessings. We are so grateful for the loyal support of Auas Motors year in and year out, always seeing the potential in our girls and backing them all the way. Without them, we would not be able to reach for the sky and make dreams possible".
Suné Verdoes, coach of the first netball team, is equally grateful for the sponsorship. “The WHS first netball team is very privileged to have Auas Motors as our sponsor. They have been carrying the netball first team for 20 years! Our netball fields are no longer in good condition and these proceeds will be used to fix up the courts."
Hope Kazondovi, captain of the first team, shared her excitement for the future of WHS netball: “The refurbished courts will help the WHS netball girls to improve our skills and give us and future netball teams the opportunity to achieve greatness!”
Auas Motors Group managing director Gerhard Vermeulen gave a short speech at the occasion. "It remains a privilege to work with WHS. It is important to us to be involved in the development of sport and most importantly team sports."
During the vehicle handover, Vermeulen surprised the WHS netball team with a cheque for an additional N$10 000. This was donated to WHS by Nictus Holdings, which is affiliated to Auas Motors. During the annual Nictus Golf day, funds were raised and this, in turn, was donated to the school.
The WHS auction is scheduled for 1 August at 18:00 at Vegkop. WHS invites the public to attend this event and contribute to making a significant difference in the lives of its learners.
