Company empowers Namibian students
Huawei Namibia welcomed seven undergraduate students to its 'Seeds for the Future' training scheme.

Huawei Namibia, a leading global technology solutions provider, is making significant strides in supporting education and technology development in Namibia. Recently, the company welcomed seven undergraduate students from the University of Namibia (Unam) to its 'Seeds for the Future' training scheme. This initiative aims to equip students with state-of-the-art ICT knowledge and prepare them for a future in the tech industry.

A gear-changing opportunity
Dr Samuel Nuugulu, head of the department of computing, mathematical and statistical science at Unam, expressed his appreciation for Huawei Namibia's commitment to education.
He highlighted that the 'Seeds for the Future' programme aligns seamlessly with Unam's curriculum, offering students an enriched educational experience.
Maggy Namundjebo, vice managing director of Huawei Namibia, emphasised that the primary goal of this initiative is to provide students with invaluable ICT knowledge.
The programme spans six months and guarantees participants the opportunity to earn credits related to their work-integrated learning by immersing themselves in various departments and global branches of Huawei, including the prestigious Huawei University of Technology in China.

Creating a skilled workforce
Namundjebo reiterated Huawei's dedication to the initiative, highlighting its strategic significance in cultivating a skilled workforce that will drive Namibia's technological advancements in the years to come.
She also expressed the company's commitment to establishing a memorandum of understanding with Unam to expand the programme's scope and benefit an increasing number of students in the future.

Highlights
'Seeds for the Future', offered in a hybrid mode, provides undergraduate students with a comprehensive experience. It includes technology courses covering topics such as 5G, cloud computing and artificial intelligence, as well as leadership courses and immersive experiences in Chinese culture.
Participants also get the opportunity to visit Huawei's tech exhibition hall, engage in 'Tech4Good' group projects and foster cultural exchanges with peers from around the world.
Lovisa Nghipandulwa, the industry and cooperative education coordinator at Unam, commended Huawei for taking in seven students at once, emphasising that such an opportunity is exceptionally rare. She urged the students to seize this chance wholeheartedly and extract the utmost value from it.

A great future for Namibians
One of the beneficiaries of this remarkable opportunity, Johanna Ndjimba, a fourth-year computer science student, expressed her excitement and honour to be part of Huawei's 'Seeds for the Future' programme. She sees this as an opportunity to explore cutting-edge technology and gain global exposure while contributing to the future of technology alongside industry leaders.
The selected student trainees, chosen for their academic merits, are Ndjimba, Padelia Nghalipo, Riovanns Eichab, Saara Naikalemo, Julia Hasotushi, Miriam Shikongo and Chante Moses, all of whom represent the bright future of Namibia's technology landscape.
