Head girl corner

Lea Hartung
As the head girl of Keetmanshoop Secondary School (KSS), this year has been an incredible journey of growth, responsibility and inspiration. Stepping into this role, I knew it would be challenging, but I didn't fully grasp how much it would shape me as a person. From organising events to leading assemblies, and from resolving conflicts to representing our school in various forums, every day brought new opportunities to learn and lead.
What stands out the most is the sense of unity and collaboration among the learners, teachers and LRCs of KSS. Together, we are trying to work hard to create an environment where everyone feels heard and valued. The trust placed in me by my peers and teachers is both humbling and empowering, motivating me to give my best in everything I do.
Of course, there are challenges along the way - balancing academics, leadership duties and personal life isn't always easy. But these moments teach me resilience and the importance of relying on a supportive team. It is in these challenges that I discover the true essence of leadership: Serving others and making decisions that uplift the entire school community.
As the year draws to a close, I look back with gratitude for the experiences, friendships and lessons learnt. This role has not only strengthened my leadership skills, but also deepened my commitment to making a positive impact. I am proud of what we've achieved together and confident that the foundation we've built will continue to inspire future leaders of our KSS.
In Deo Speramus. In God we trust.
